A former paramedic is seeking brain injury compensation after part of his brain was removed in error.
John Tunney from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, suffered a haemorrhage and permanent brain injury after he was subjected to unnecessary surgery according to a statement released by Mr Tunney’s solicitors.
Mr Tunney underwent a biopsy in 2008 after it was suspected that he had a brain tumor. It is alleged that instead of removing the tumour, the surgeon incorrectly removed healthy brain tissue.
Mr Tunney was previously employed by West Midlands Ambulance Service but has been left partially sighted and in need of constant supervision.
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has admitted liability for the mistakes and formally apologised to Mr Tunney. Mr Tunney has now begun legal action to sue the NHS.
